  Other members up to six persons are appointed by the Cabinet. The term of the appointed members is 2 years, but they can be reappointed.  
     
Functions of the NCB  
     
 

1.

To set up plans and measures on prevention and suppression of drug offenders.

2.

To supervise the investigation, interrogation and prosecution of narcotics traffickers.

3.

To plan and implement projects on dissemination of information on the dangers of drug abuse, including to direct governmental agencies concerned to do so.

4.

To control, expedite, and coordinate drug control efforts of narcotics law enforcement agencies.

5.

To make recommendations to the Cabinet for the favorable improvement of drug control actions, workplans, or projects of narcotics law enforcement agencies.

6.

To coordinate an supervise drug dependence treatment programs.

7.

To approve the appointment of competent officials to perform duties prescribed by the Narcotics Control Act (1976)

8.

To make recommendations to the Cabinet for the establishment of drug control measures in workplaces. Any business premises are required to be under these measures.

9.

To perform any tasks prescribed by the Narcotics Control Act B.E. 2519 (1976) as amended by the 4th Amendment B.E. 2545 (2002).

10.

To make recommendation for the appropriate personnel management of public officials who are responsible for good drug control activities or are involved in drug trafficking, including promotion, transfer of position, and disciplinary punishment; and to encourage governmental agencies concerned to actively implement their own management.

11.

To consider and allocate the drug control budget to both governmental and non-governmental agencies concerned as well as supervise and monitor their expenditure.

12.

To encourage the governmental and non-governmental agencies as well as the general public to participate in the national drug control efforts.

 
     
  According to the provisions of the Narcotics Control Act B.E. 2519 (1976), NCB may appoint Advisory Committees or Sub-Committees to consider specific matters or take any actions, e.g..
