The ONCB/DLO Meeting and Observation Trip on Narcotics Control

The ONCB organised the ONCB/DLO Meeting and Observation Trip on Narcotics Control during May 9-11, 2002 in Phuket. The objectives of the meeting were to reaffirm the world community of the Royal Thai Government’s strong determination to combat drug problem, to demonstrate maritime interdiction, and to create better understanding on the narcotics control measures undertaken in Thailand. The meeting comprised a presentation and discussion on “Narcotics Situation in Thailand” and “Drug Trafficking by Sea” on the first day, and an observation trip on maritime interdiction including briefing on “drug control work by the Third Fleet” on the second day, at Phang-nga Naval Base, Phang-nga Province. The participants comprised high-ranking officials of Thai authorities concerned and drug liaison officers from various countries represented in Thailand.
