The ONCB/FANC Meeting and Observation Trip on Narcotic Crop Control,
February 5-7, 2001.


A Meeting and Observation Trip on Narcotic Crop Control for Foreign Anti-Narcotic Liaison Officers (FANC) was organized during the 5th -7th February 2001, in Chiang Mai Province.

The objectives of the program is to reaffirm the international communities of the Royal Thai Government's strong attempts in wiping out narcotic crop cultivation in this region and to present better understanding on the narcotics control measures undertaken in Thailand. The program was composed of a presentation and discussion on "Narcotics Situation in Thailand" and "Opium Poppy Cultivation Control in Thailand" on the first day. On the second day, there was an observation trip to opium poppy eradication site at Mae Tae-Kae Noi, Chiang Dow District, Chiang Mai Province and the opium poppy eradication carried out by the 3rd Regional Army.

           The participants comprised high ranking officials of Thai authorities concerned and drug liaison officers stationed in Thailand from various countries who are the members of FANC.
