The 6th Thai-Lao Meeting on Drug Law Enforcement Cooperation

During 27 – 28 August 2003, Lao PDR has hosted the 6th Thai-Lao Meeting on Drug Law Enforcement Cooperation in Champassak Province, Lao PDR. H.E. Mr. Pongthep Thepkanchana, Minister of Ministry of Justice, head of Thai Delegations discussed on mutual cooperation against drugs with H.E. Mr. Soubanh Srithirath, Minister to the President Office and Chairman of the Lao National Commission for Drug Control and Supervision, head of Laos delegations. The Meeting has agreed and brought up numbers of furthering actions, such as, all Governors and chief officers from Thailand and Lao PDR Provinces that share their borders should be met. Concreted local mutual cooperation mechanism along Thai–Laos border-provinces should be set up. Both countries admired on the Joint Patrols on the Mekong River, UNODC project, in which, should be sustained and diversified. Laos extended sincere appreciation for Thai support on the settlement of drug treatment and rehabilitation centre in Champassak. In addition, both sides had the consent that the mutual cooperation on anti-drugs recreations, i.e., arts, literatures, sports and likewise, should be more promoted and exchanged. The conference ended with prosperous results and cordially farewells.
