Kazakh delegation came over for discussion on drafted MOU for narcotics control cooperation

On the 3rd May 2005, Police Major General Somchart Swangnetr, Deputy Secretary-General of the Narcotics Control Board of Thailand welcomed the Kazakh delegation led by Mr. Alexander Chaus, Vice Chairman of the Committee on Combating Narcotic Drugs Business and Control over Traffic of Narcotic Drugs, Ministry of Internal Affairs to the ONCB. The delegation came over, as invited by the ONCB, for a meeting with representatives from Thai relevant agencies to conclude a draft Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan about Reciprocal Cooperation in Struggle against Illegal Circulation and Abuse of Narcotic Means, Psychotropic Substances, their Analogues and Precursors.

The MOU was firstly proposed by the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2000 to Thailand for consideration. Since both countries generally agreed that international cooperation is one of an important and effective instruments in combating narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, as well as precursors and essential chemicals and the practice also complies with the international narcotics control treaties, conventions, meeting, therefore, was convened with amicably atmosphere and came to conclusion of a common draft of the MOU. The meeting also expected the signing of the MOU by both countries soon.
